Description Antisect “In Darkness, There Is No Choice” LP (40th Anniversary) The notorious debut by the Daventry-based anarcho-punk warriors, an album originally released in 1984 on the consistently excellent Spiderleg Records. Of the big guns of the UK underground music scene during this point of time – Death Church, Strive To Survive, Let The Tribe Increase, Ungovernable Force, Hear Nothing… etc. – this is the album that I have consistently returned to the most ever since; so, yes, I’m massively biased towards In Darkness. And I’ll wager, I’m not alone. At the time, heavier and louder than anyone else had dared to be – much of this recording matches the sound of roaring motorbikes, at least the best bits do. They also maxed-up the socio-political protest factor, belonging to a proud tradition of Ranters and dissenters. Standing-up and shouting (very loudly) all of their righteous complaints and observations, based on the injustices, fears and traumas of mid-80s Thatcherite Britain, was , and still is, thrillingly exciting. This reissue (repressed on vinyl for the first time in quite a few decades) has been remastered from the original tapes and is packaged in a faithful reproduction of the fold out sleeve, with the new addition of an 8 page booklet. Major credit to Rise Above Records for reprinting the original artwork and actually improving on the visual quality compared to the original.
