Description Baby Silverskins “Yapping Down The Tweeds” LP A retrospective discography LP for the melodic punk band of the early 1990s. Based in Crewe, they were primarily active around the North West – I was a big fan, and put them on in Manchester quite a few times. They were an exciting, fired-up mixture of early Snuff (for the vocal harmonies especially) and Nomeansno (for the quirky, bass-lead time changes). There was probably a little Fugazi in the mix, too. This contains the six track demo cassette from from a 1993, plus the four tracks from their only vinyl release, a split single with Buxton’s Pigpile on Refusenik Records. (Plus two never-heard-before instrumental tracks). I’m not sure why things didn’t work out better for the Skins, splitting up as they did in 1996 – really, they should have gone on to release fabulous albums, receiving the kind of International accolades that were heaped upon bands like Leatherface and Snuff.
