And that is a good thing. Rich with pop sensibilities – the kind that gives pop sensibilities a good name. Hey, if Scowl want to sound like a hardcore band embracing the Breeders, Hole or whoever, I’d say go ahead, go get ‘um. Godknows they do it ten times better than the average indie/alternative-rock lightweights (Paramore this is not). Scowl have not lost their edge and they still manage to convey the anger and frustration that lies underneath the colour and gloss. And if you have a frontperson who can sing really well, then, yeah, let them sing… as well a scream, and shout. Are We All Angels by Scowl
