Very rare French hand painted terracotta vase, signed D’Argyl under the base. These rare metal mounted vases were a marriage of artists. The ceramics by D’Argyl and the metal work is by Andre Villien. Signed under the base – D’Argyl. D’Argyl and Louise Dage were I believe probably the same artist and both names appear in conjunction with Andre Villien on items that were ceramic and metal mounted. D’argyl was a trademark used by the company Val (E.) & Cie , goldsmiths located at 218 , rue di Faubourg Siant-Martin in Paris. 10 inches (25.5cm) high, 9.75 inches (24.7cm) diameter. Condition is good with one small blemish on the back, possibly a minor repair from an edge chip. SOLD
