The strong blue glaze represents this fierce small animal. Sometimes, the extreme temperature of the kiln brings out the iron in the glaze to produce a red tone. Part of the charm of this collection is that every piece is unique – there are always slight colour variations. Each Australian animal mug is hand thrown with either clay or porcelain; then hand glazed inside and outside with food-safe glazes. The tiles themselves are created using digital 3D sculpting and printing techniques, then moulded with clay, before being hand mounted to the mug; the tiles are unglazed. The hand-crafted nature of these mugs means every piece is unique. The glaze, in particular, reacts and settles differently on each mug so please expect variation in detail.
